Lamka, February 07: National Peoples Party which is fielding five candidates in the ensuing State Assembly elections was cheered by a huge crowd on the streets of Lamka when V Langkhanpau Guite, its nominee in CCpur AC filed his papers.

Addressing the crowd at Singngat community hall after inaugurating the election office of Hangkhanpau, NPP�s nominee for 60-Singngat AC, NPP president V Hangkhanlian claimed that his party would definitely win in the Assembly segments of Singngat, CCpur, Thanlon, Kangpokpi and Konthoujam.

Hangkhanpau claimed that his first priority will be restoration of the pathetic roads and power supply of the region, besides providing adequate water supply and establishment of a well equipped hospital.

He also promised to set up a Hr Secondary School for the region within a year, if elected.

In the region where politics were often played on communal lines, Hangkhanpau acknowledged the support extended to his party by various tribes.

He also introduced his central election committee members constituted by individuals belonging to cross-sections of Zou, Thadou, Vaiphei, Paite, Mizo, Simte and Thangkhal communities, to the people.

Hangkhanpau today appealled for a priceless vote, so that he can serve the people without reservation and most importantly without a cost.

In addition he maintained that he was not with money but with humanity, apparently referring to the monetary clout in the ensuing election.

Meanwhile, three candidates in the six Assembly segments of the district today withdrew their papers reducing the overall contenders in the district to 37.The candidates who have withdrawn their nominations were Ms Khamkhoniang (Ind) from 60-Singngat AC, Kailal Suantak (SP) from 56-Thanlon AC and El Muon Sinate from 55-Tipaimukh AC.
