Minister Y Irabot conducts surprise check

Imphal, May 31 2010: State consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister, Y Erabot today conducted a surprise visit at the oil pumps and SK oil (kerosene) sub-dealers at Kangpokpi in Senapati district and seized many documents related with the irregular distribution of fuel to the people.

The minister conducted the surprise visit to know whether the vehicle fuel and kerosene oil allocated to the dealers and sub-dealers of the district by an order issued on May 5 last were distributed to the people in proper manner.

When the minister found no sign of distribution of the SK oil at Kangpokpi and not maintaining the records for onward distributions to the sub-dealers and public, the minister seized the documents of the dealer.

The dealer is responsible for onward distribution of kerosene to sub-dealers in Senapati district.

Minister, Irabot also inspected DL Depot at Kangpokpi Bazar where no personnel of the pump were found.

The minister immediately called out OC of Kangpokpi police station to break open the padlock of the depot.

There was no sign of distribution of fuel to the consumers by the pump which minister expressed disappointment on the irregularities practice by the depot owner and personnel of the depot.

During the inspection, no sign of storing oil in reservoirs were also found.

Residents of the area said that the dealers had not distributed kerosene to the people by the dealer.

Later, speaking to the reporters, minister Irabot said he took the matter of non-distribution of kerosene to the people seriously considering woes facing by the people owing to the prolong economic blockade on the national highways.

Appropriate actions will be taken up against the erring dealers and sub-dealers, the minister assured reiterating that for the Senapati district, 68 kilolitre of SK oil, 68 KL of diesel were allocated by his department.
