Imphal, March 31: Asserting that reasons furnished in favour of the March 23 rally in Delhi and the general strike called on the same day all over Manipur were baseless and without any truth, the Kuki National Front (KNF) has demanded clarification from the leaders responsible for organising the rally and calling general strike in Manipur.

A statement issued by the Information and Publicity secretary of the outfit LH Stephen remarked that the reasons put forward to justify the rally and the general strike were mere fabricated propaganda by a few vested interest and organisations to further their interest.

Organising such rally without proper verification of the truth of the cause and thereby putting the life of hundreds of students and their careers at risk cannot be just ignored.

Those hundreds of students arrested and detained on the day of the rally put their career at risk which is a great loss to the community, observed Stephen.

Henceforth, any mass rally or other similar activities should be organised only after verifying the authenticity of the cause and only after proper consultation, KNF cautioned.

The outfit further asked all the leaders of KSO responsible for organising the rally on March 23 at Delhi to come and clarify their position to the Front at the earliest failing which punitive action would be initiated against them.

Disclosing that the KNF made its best efforts to nab the culprits involved in the kidnapping and murder of Muheni Martin and Hrinii Hubert and made some progress though unable to bring to its logical end, the outfit conveyed its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families.
