Imphal, March 31: Holding the Congress led SPF Government squarely responsible for the lack of development of the State and rampant violation of human rights by security personnel in the State, Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has boycotted all candidates put up by AICC and MPCC in the coming Lok Sabha election.

RPF also warned against campaigning and organising camps for these candidates and said that anyone found defying the diktat should be ready to face any eventuality.

In a statement made available to the press today, the outfit said that the main interest of the ruling SPF Govt, which it alleged as been reduced to a puppet Govt, is to consolidate its position and prolong its suppressive rule over the people and not to mitigate their untold sufferings.

Instead of looking into the sufferings of the people, the SPF Govt is intent on pleasing New Delhi, it charged.

Instead of listening to the public outcry against rampant human rights violation and other atrocities being committed by security personnel with impunity, the elected representatives only infuriated the people with their sugar coated half-hearted assurances.

This has only convinced the people that their elected representatives are only political mercenaries who want to ride on the saddle of power to misuse the developmental fund and mass wealth for themselves, Lily Leima said.

Referring to the alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct laid down by Election Commission in distributing farm equipments, RPF observed that the wounded sentiments of the people could not be assuaged by this action.

What the people really want is sympathetic and genuine concern of the Government towards the plight of the people and allows them to lead a peaceful life by saving them from senseless killing and brutality of security forces.

Lily Leima noted.
