Rural votes outnumber urban centres

Imphal, April 27: Out of the total percentage of 55.99 recorded in yesterday's poll for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat Assembly segments located in rural areas, with the exception of Kumbi, recorded much higher voters turn out than the polling stations located at the Assembly segments of Imphal.

As per official information, the highest number of votes polled have been reported at Thoubal Assembly Constituency at 84.24 percent pipping Konthoujam (83.81) while Lilong and Wangoi closely following at 82.08 and 80.94 percent respectively.

Polling at Khundrakpam, Heingang, Keirao, Andro, Lamlai, Lamsang, Patsoi, Nambol, Bishnupur and Wangkhem hovered in between 62 to 74 percent.

Poll percentage in Kumbi assembly constituency was recorded as low as 24.40 percent and Oinam at 30.27 percent.

Within the capital districts Yaiskul AC polled only 24.92 percent, while figures of Uripok and Thangmeiband were recorded at 29.72 and 30.76 percent.
