Imphal, February 25: With most of the results of the two phase State Assembly elections available on the second day of the counting today parties have begun hectic politicking to share power in the next Government.

Respective parties have also begun assessing the post poll scenario.

The Congress (I) which has emerged as the largest single party till now and the BJP with only four seats in its kitty are in the forefront of the race for power.

The CPI, which surprised many by garnering five seats, highest in recent times have begun consultations within the party with the newly elected members to take a stand enjoining the Government.

BJP national secretary in-charge of the North East PB Acharya, who is well verse with the brand of politics in Manipur, has arrived here today to "oversee" installation of a "Ministry headed by the BJP." The BJP is making efforts to form a Government without the Congress (I) and the CPI.

On his arrival in Imphal Acharya closeted with the newly elected members of the BJP.

Earlier today the two MPP members Okram Joy Singh and Dr Nimaichand Luwang who retained their respective constituencies met RK Dorendro, who is being projected as the BJP Legislature Party leader at the latter's residence this morning.

When contacted Dorendro admitted that the BJP is working on the line of forming a coalition of like minded parties.

The Congress (I) and the CPI would not be included in the proposed front, he added.

Stating that he has begun discussions with regional parties Dorendro claimed that positive response is coming.

When asked how the BJP with only four MLAs is going to stake the claim to form the Government the former Chief Minister was evasive saying a common minimum programme would be formulated.

He expressed the confidence that a clear picture will be coming in the next one or two days.

Since NDA Government is at the Centre a Government headed by BJP can tackle the problems being faced by the State with helps from the Centre, Dorendro said.
