Imphal, February 24: MPP president 0 Joy who retained the Langthabal seat said that even if the MPP does not win a large number of seats it will still play a prominent role in Government formation.

Joy said the MPP is open to the idea of going along with like minded political parties.

Joy made it clear that the MPP would have nothing to do with the Congress in Government formation.

FPM candidate N Biren who won from Sekmai said that his party would lead a coalition Government with other like minded parties after the results are declared.

S Natum who won from Sagolband on an MNC ticket said that his party is likely to participate in a coalition Government.

He said priority would be placed on correcting the financial crisis in the State.

Fresh from winning the Uripok AC, INC candidate Laishram Nandakumar said that the people have backed him to the hilt as they want a change.

On the reason for the good showing the Congress has managed to put up this time, Nandakumar said the stand of the Congress on the territorial integrity issue of Manipur have tilted the scale in favour of the party.

He further said that any post poll pact with the BJP is remote.

W Brajabidhu of the INC who won from Lamshang AC also echoed the same sentiments and said the people voted for the Congress and himself as they are sick of the previous regimes and want some change.
