Imphal, October 23 2009: On the occasion of completing three months today, people paid homage and floral tributes to Thokchom Ongbi Rabina and Chungkham Sanjit, who were killed in the July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident which also left five other civilians wounded in police firing.

People offered their floral tributes to the photographs of Rabina and Sanjit at the site of the incident as well as at residences of the two victims.

At the Khurai Sajor Leikai residential gate of Sanjit, photographs of Rabina and Sanjit were placed side by side to facilitate the people to pay their homage to the departed souls.

Banners highlighting the demands of the JACs formed in connection with the killings like 'Resign Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh', 'Terminate guilty police commandos', ' Gallantry awards for killing innocent people of Manipur should be stopped at once', etc were seen putting up at the site of the observance.

On the sidelines of the observance, a public meeting was also held at the residence of slain Sanjit.

Representatives of various social organisations who spoke at the occasion decried undue interference from some quarters in the ongoing public agitation.

Endorsing the ongoing class boycott call, they contended that right to life is more important than education and called upon the people for sustained movement until realisation of the demands of the JACs and the Apunba Lup.

While the observance was ongoing, additional security forces have been deployed at Lamlong Bazar and patrolling intensified in the vicinity of the residence of late Sanjit.
