Imphal, July 23: Following report of attempted kidnapping of children returning from school at Yumnam Huidrom in Imphal East District by unidentified persons, alarmed people of the area today set out in search of the unknown kidnappers and their children.

At around noon today when news spread that some unidentified persons coming in a Maruti van had picked up children in school uniforms, worried parents and other local people rushed to two schools located nearby, namely Iboton Memorial School at Top Siphai and Don Public School and search around the area for the presence of any possible child kidnappers.

However, when the attendance register of the school was checked, it was found that none of the students were missing.

After the incident, a publicity campaign was carried out in and around the neighbouring asking the people to slay alert and vigilant.
