Imphal, August 22: The United Committee Manipur expressed unhappiness over the failure of the State Government to inform the Centre about the flood situation when over a lakh people have been rendered homeless, innumerable animals killed, eights valuables lives lost, over 50.000 hectares of paddy fields destroyed.

UCM president in press statement said that sending a mere letter will not work.

It is a sign of weakness of State Government not to send any representative to apprise the Centre about the grim situation here.

The government should organize a press conference in the Centre to make people aware about the situation, it said.

It demanded that a central team from the capital to assess the situation.

Funding organizations throughout the world should be contacted to help the victims, it demanded.

The UCM is surprised that all the three MPs from Manipur are silent about the mater.

They seem to have forgotten that they are representing the people of Manipur and the people had elected them to help the people.

The Centre is giving all possible assistance to Bihar.

The deputy Prime Minister LK Advani also announced to give Rs 41 crores as second installment to Assam when a team of Congress MPs and State government representatives met him to discuss the situation it reminded.

Assam Government is trying to get Rs 2500 crores as assistance from the Centre to face the problems arising out of the flood in the State.

Collecting few coins from the people will not help at all, it said adding that like other States which are getting financial assistance Manipur should also try to seek assistance.
