Imphal, April 20: The Congress Legislature Party met today evening to review the first phase polling held in the Outer Parliamentary Constituency.

Talking to The Sangai Express a source from the CM's Secretariat informed that the meeting was convened straight after Chief Minister O Ibobi returned from inspecting the polling scene at Thoubal along with some of his Ministerial colleagues.

A number of senior Congress Ministers including the Congress candidate in the Inner seat Dr T Meinya attended the meeting.

The meeting took serious note of the point that though the Chief Minister and his team accompanied by a huge security force went around the seven Assembly segments of Thoubal district to mobilise the voters, only 30 per cent came out to actually exercise their franchise rights, said the source.

Ministers present at the meeting expressed that the voters did not come out to vote in the valley area due to the diktats imposed by the UNLF.

The meeting also discussed the strategy to be adopted by the party in the Inner election, which is scheduled to be held on April 26.Discussions centred around the possibility of deploying large troops from the army and para military forces for the Inner election so that voters can come out fearlessly and vote for the candidate of their choice, added the source.

It was also decided that all the Congress Ministers would go to their respective constituencies with adequate security cover and mobilise the voters to come out and exercise their rights.
