Imphal, February 15: A suspected UG cadre was killed in a shoot-out with three Apache teams of Imphal East commandos near Minuthong under Porompat police station at about 7 pm today.

According to police sources, the shoot-out ensued when the suspected UG cadres first opened fire on seeing the approaching commando team.

The unidentified man was killed in retaliation by the commandos.

It is reported that a 9 mm pistol was recovered from the possession of the deceased.

The deceased is fair complexioned and was wearing jean pants and blue coloured shirt.

The corpse has been deposited at RIMS mortuary.

On the other hand, the identities of the two men found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Tairenpokpi in Imphal West district under Sapermeina police station yesterday is yet to be established.

Unidentified gunmen gun down : A person yet to be identified was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Irengbam under Nambol police station today at about 8 pm today.

According to police the victim was brought there by the assailants.

The body is yet to be retrieved, said sources.

CI Ops : A combined force of Thoubal district commandos and troops of 21 AR conducted a counter insurgency operation at Khoidum and Phumlenpat. The counter insurgency operation which began at around 2 am continued till 11 am today.

However, there is no report of any arrest, said sources.
