Imphal, July 10: In view of the hardships being faced by the people, various social organisations have called upon All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) to call off the imposition of indefinite economic blockade along the National Highways immediately.

All Clubs, Organisations, Association and Meira Paibi-Lup (Acoam-Lup), Manipur contended that since the impact of the indefinite blockade is being felt by the common people and not by the Government, it should be called off immediately in the interest of the people.

Manipurgi Ngamkhei Kanba Lup (MANKAL) said that it is opposed to calling bandh or blockade along the National Highways by any organisation, association or Lup in pursuance of their demand thereby putting the lives of the common people at stake.

While appealing to ANSAM to call off its agitation, MANKAL categorically stated that the State Govt should be held responsible for any eventuality if the ongoing blockade continues to remain in force.

Observing that causing inconvenience to the general public in the course of pursuing an agenda cannot be construed as democratic movement the United peoples Front Manipur appealed to the ANSAM to reconsider its indefinite economic blockade.

The UPF while stating that the ongoing economic blockade has enough potential to strain cordiality prevalent in the Manipuri society asked the ANSAM to adopt more democratic form of agitation that could win support and goodwill of every section of the society.
