Imphal, February 09: Denouncing the arrangement to relocate the polling stations of 41 Chandel A/C namely Sehlon, Wayang and Molngat to Holenjang village and Yangoulien, Molcham, New Somtal and Changpol to Laijang village, the CPI Manipur State Council asserted that the decision of the District Election Officer and the subsequent approval of the Chief Electoral Officer was arbitrary as the concerned candidates and the electorates were not taken into confidence before the decision to this effect was adopted.

A statement issued by CPI contended that the new arrangement would only deny the right to vote of those people belonging to the original polling stations.

Observing that the villagers would have to walk 30 to 60 km to cast their votes in Holenjang and Laijang polling stations which is quite irrational, the party demanded that the villagers be allowed to cast votes at their own polling stations.

A presentation objecting the arrangement to relocate polling stations was also submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer today.
