Imphal, February 08: Taking strong exception to the alleged selective targeting of CPI Manipur State Council in several places like Lamlai, Hiyanglam, Wabgai etc, the political party has strongly condemned the acts of violence and intimidation in CPI offices, polling booths etc by some unidentified gun men.

A statement issued by CPI secretary informed that one Gypsy (white colour) was hijacked by some persons who wielded automatic rifles from Lamlai after severely thrashing the driver.

The gun men identified themselves as cadres of KYKL, it conveyed.

Moreover, they confiscated the mobile phone of the driver worth Rs 15,000. Demanding to know whether such acts of violence were perpetrated by genuine cadres of KYKL, it also asked the outfit, if they are really behind such acts of violence, as to why the CPI is being targeted selectively while no such acts are perpetrated against other political parties.

Conveying suspicion of political influence in these acts, it termed the acts of violence against CPI which is intent on bringing a revolution through democratic means as most unfortunate.

It further appealed to all concerned not to target CPI in future.
