Imphal, October 07: Describing the arrest of some senior unarmed Naga national workers at Kangpokpi yesterday by Manipur Government as an attempt to sabotage the ongoing peace process Naga Hoho, Kohima said the action is clear indication of denying the aspiration of the Naga citizens.

A press statement of the apex Naga body said the arrest is uncalled for as Govt of India has lifted the ban on both groups of NSCN to facilitate amicable solution to the over five decades old Naga problem.

The Meiteis (Manipuris) need to realize that at no point of time in the more than five decades old Naga people's struggle for nationhood, the Naga people had ever attempted to discredit the history of the Meitei kingdom nor the people of the kingdom.

And as much as the Nagas respect the history of the Meitei kingdom, the Nagas expect reciprocal respect of their history from the Meitei people as the GoI has done.

This mutual respect and recognition will go a long way in building good neighborly relationship, said the Hoho.

It further appealed to all the people and Governments of North East to apply their wisdom for creating a conducive atmosphere for solving the Naga political issue to usher in peace in the region and added 'As destined neighbors by choice of the Almighty we need to understand, recognize, respect and help each other solve our problems for the welfare and prosperity of the region'.
