ANSAM supporters grow more vocal

Imphal, July 07: In support of the ANSAM sponsored economic blockade, volunteers of Chandel unit of Naga Students� Union are on the high alert for maximum impact of the agitation on the Moreh-Pallel, Chandel-Pallel, Machi-Pallel and Chakpikarong-Sugnu routes, informed the Union in a press release.

In addition to preventing transportation of goods, the Union�s volunteers in consonance with the non-cooperation movement have embarked on Government office closure drive at Mini Secretariat, Chandel and Treasury office severely affecting normal office works.

The student body also contended that counter-agitation had been launched at Pallel and Sugnu areas while conveying of ANSAM and the Union leaders thanking the general public for extending cooperation to the current agitations.

The Naga Students' Federation has also called upon the Naga people to be aware of the issue and be ready for the fight to defend their rights.

In a statement, the apex student body of the Naga people, said that since the SPF Government has failed to consider the demand of ANSAM, NSF is now compelled to start taking its own course of action.

Since the Government of Manipur has placed its unethical declaration over the rights and sentiments of the Naga people, for which the Government is not ready to comply with the demands placed by ANSAM, the Government should be ready to face consequences and it should be responsible for everything, added the statement.

In the meantime, IOC sources disclosed that petrol stock currently available at the Chingmeirong depot is 596 kilolitres which could last upto six days at the maximum but the general consumers' requirement could be further shortened as the depot also serves the requirement of the security forces.
