MCM functionaries to meet CM today

Imphal, June 03: With tension running high at Moreh following the killing of a youth by suspected KNA cadres today morning, representatives of Meetei Council, Moreh are set to meet the Chief Minister tomorrow.

Speaking to reporters at the office of the DIPR today evening, representatives of MCM who had come from Moreh today said that the deceased Y Roshan was a civilian.

Enraged over the killing of an innocent man, a number of organisations have imposed an indefinite bandh at Moreh, they said and added that tension between different communities is also running high.

General secretary of MCM N Phulindro said that they had come to Imphal to meet the Chief Minister today, but have been told that an audience can be granted only tomorrow morning.

If any undesirable incidents arise at Moreh in the interregnum, then the CM should be held responsible, MCM general secretary asserted.

When the BSF was deployed at Moreh, no incident of this type occurred, said the MCM representatives and added that after the Assam Rifles was deployed at the border town, such type of killing has increased manifold.

The communally inclined AR troops should be withdrawn, they demanded.
