Imphal, June 30: Taking serious note of the hardships faced by the people in the backdrop of the indefinite blockade imposed on the two National Highways, the UCM has today appealed to all to realise that the only way to defeat the threat posed to the State is to meet the challenges unitedly and urged all not to do anything that may disturb public peace and peaceful co-existence.

In a statement, UCM said that all should realise that the blockade has not inconvenienced any one community but the whole people of Manipur and as such it is important for the people to stand united.

To pay respect to the 18 souls who sacrificed their lives to protect the territory of Manipur, tributes have always been paid at Kekrupat and on June 18 and the day has always been a holiday in the past years.

On the basis of the findings of the C Upendra Commission, functionaries of the State Government including political leaders too have been paying their respect at the sacred site of Kekrupat.
