Imphal, January 30: Clarifying that the visit of Th Debendra at Jiribam on January 29 has nothing to do with the restriction imposed on him, Jiribam District Committee has urged the people not to construe it as violation of the boycott call given by it.

Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of the All Jiribam United Clubs Association this afternoon, spokespersons of the Demand Committee explained that the restriction does not meant that the sitting MLA cannot come to Jiribam but not to co-operate with any of his activities.

However, receiving by the members of the Jiribam Block Congress Committee when he arrived at Silchar Airport yesterday amounts to violation of the boycott call, the spokesman asserted while asking the Block Congress Committee president and secretary to come to the office of the Apunba Jiribam Meira Paibi at 3 pm on January 31 to explain themselves on their conduct in this regard.

The Committee further explained that restriction imposed on the local MLA in connection with the demand for upgradation of Jiribam to a full-fledged revenue district has been decided to lift from January 30 to February 2 only to facilitate participation of people in discussion of the issue.
