Imphal, March 27: Apart from the incensed people of Chandel district constituting a body christened Chandel People's Action Committee in connection with the recent killing of two Anal women, civil society organisations of the district have geared up to launch a series of agitation within the next few days.

The Committee was reportedly formed at a meeting convened today at the Indoor Stadium Chandel district headquarters with the gathering entrusting the body to chalk out future/further course of action to exert pressure on the State Government for booking the culprits responsible for the ghastly killing of PS Snowy Anal alias Julie (27) and LH Esther Anal (30) of Chakpikarong sub-division in Chandel district.

Bullet riddled bodies of the two were recovered from a thoubal district area on March 22 after suspected UG activists killed them the previous night.

Today's meeting attended by representatives of social and student bodies including the CNPO, ANTA, ASR, ALT, NWUC, NWUM and tribal leaders also endorsed the decision to stage peace rallies in all the hill district headquarters soon.

In protest against the killings these NGOs had also imposed Chandel district bandh yesterday.

According to president of Anal Naga Tribes' Association (ANTA) Warngam Anal, today's meeting was convened under the aegis of Chandel Naga Peoples' Organisation (CNPO) wherein a resolution was adopted to stage the rallies in the districts of Chandel, Tamenglong, Senapati and Ukhrul in denunciation of the merciless killing of the two innocent Anal women.

Lamenting that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh is yet to translate his assurance to trace/identify perpetrators of the gruesome murder into actual action, he also conveyed that such laxity of the Government to the sensitive matter came under severe criticism from those who were present at the meeting.
