Imphal, July 26: Presence of security personnel along the Imphal-Jiribam route on the NH-53 has been further strengthened with the deployment of two companies of CRPF from today.

According to informed source, security personnel requisition has been necessitated to expedite the ongoing road development work along NH-53 as well as to prevent occurrence of unwanted incident in view of the ongoing economic blockade imposed on both the NHs.

The deployment of CRPF companies today is in addition to two companies already stationed at various section of the Imphal-silchar national highway, said the source.

In another development a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh and attended by top officials of security establishments besides BRTF officers was held today in which progress of road development work currently underway on NH-53 was reviewed.
