Imphal, March 20: The Churachandpur District Christian Goodwill Council (CDCGC), an inter denominational Christian group today convened a meeting of various political leaders, tribe leaders and social organization of the district at YPA Hall, Upper Lamka to discuss on various issues relating to the Lok Sabha election which will be held in April.

The meeting took serious note of the large scale unfair practices used during elections in the recent past and endorsed the steps proposed by the CDCGC to be taken with the aim to cleanse the election process starting from the coming election.

In this connection, the meeting agreed that the Council will convene another consultative meeting of social and tribe leaders in the district shortly to discuss further course of action.

Meanwhile, the 16th Annual Conference of the Evangelical Baptist Church Association (EBCA) started yesterday at Beulah Lane, Lamka and will conclude on Sunday.

The speakers during the conference are Rev Thangkholal Thangsing, Th M (Korea) and Rev Liankhanlal Simte, Th M.The theme of the conference is 'gam ka dam sak ding' (I will heal the land) taken from II Chronicles 7:14.At the start of the conference yesterday at 10 am, the EBCA was formally inducted into the fold of the Manipur Baptist Convention.

The affiliation ceremony was officiated by Rev Vumthang Sitlhou, general secretary, MBC, Imphal.

In the meantime, the Evangelical Baptist Convention (EBC) Dorcas (Women) Conference also started yesterday at EBC Upper Lamka and will conclude tomorrow.

Hundreds of women leaders under the EBC from all over Manipur and outside are assembling for this conference.

The speakers are Mrs Lucy Dimnu, Director - Priscilla Center, Guwahati and Miss Liankhoman, Dorcas coordinator, EBC.
