Imphal, July 17: The SPF Legislature Party meeting which met today at 4 pm with the Chief Minister in the chair decided to approach the Centre and seek its help in providing necessary security to the National Highways as this is a matter of concern for the Centre.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister detailed the proceedings of the All Political Party meeting held earlier to the SPF MLAs and after minutely discussing the situation arising out of the imposition of the economic blockade agreed that the Centre should take necessary steps to open the highways.

The meeting once again appealed to ANSAM to ease their stand as the decision to declare June 18 a State holiday was announced by the Chief Minister without any intention to hurt the sentiments of any particular community.

The CM had also expressed regret over the same during the current Assembly session.

It was also decided that MLAs including Naga MLAs will tour the hill districts and meet village elders, NGOs and civil societies to get a first hand account of their grievances as well as to appeal to ANSAM to call off its blockade.
