Imphal, March 13: The ninth report of the Committee on the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes 2003 was submitted today in the House by the Chairman Ningthoujam Biren.

Value of the benefits received by each individual beneficiaries or Societies under various schemes could not be ascertained as the department was not able to furnish the Committee with the details desired by the Committee it was reported.

The committee desired the department, to throw more light on the procedure and the criteria for selection of beneficiaries under the various schemes and also the methods adopted for making payment to the beneficiaries.

The committee also found that the government of India released Rs 1.81 crores and Rs 2.30 crores as assistance and the committee felt the need of physical verification of the works taken up.
