Imphal, February 13: Two persons who were allegedly trying to dole out money in an attempt to woo the voters have been rounded up from two different places.

In the first incident, one Angom Jayantakumar (32) of Phayeng Makha Leikai, who is said to be a political worker of INC candidate of Sekmai AC N Biren was reportedly rounded up by the workers of CPI candidate of the same AC Borajao on from Khurkhul Awang Leikai in the evening today on alleged charge of distributing money among the people.

However, the accused person has refuted the charge.

On the other hand, Maibi Lampak Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, Thongju has claimed to have arrested one Phandom Ongbi Inao Devi w/o Dilla of Thongju Part-II while she was distributing money on behalf of a Samajwadi candidate to the people of Thongju Pheijaleitong Maibi Lampak area in the evening today.

The Meira Paibi Lup also claimed to have recovered Rs 1300 which the accused Inao Devi had distributed among the people.

Meanwhile, local residents of Chingnungkok under Lamlai PS reportedly chased after some unidentified persons who came in a Maruti van and threatened an elderly political worker of CPI at around 5 pm today.

The unidentified persons, however, escaped after leaving the Van at Seijang area.

The Van in which a flag of NCP was found inside, has been handed over to the custody of Lamlai police.
