Imphal, January 13: Expressing strong displeasure over the inept handling by the State police on the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Lungnila Elizabeth, the Senapati District Students' Association has stated that the arrest of Nando by the police and failure to implicate Rome after his surrender to the UNLF and admitting his involvement in the crime have not stirred the State police to take further course of action.

In a statement signed by its president M Athili and faxed to this office, the student body alleged that the arrest of Nando and his confession of involvement and vouching Nameirakpam Inaobi's innocence amount to covering up the case and patronizing criminal activities by the police.

Asking the police to publicly clarify on the matter, the statement said that the police should take the pledge that any police officials hindering the investigation should be implicated in the murder case and added that the State Government should be more responsive and committed in the investigation.

Hailing the UNLF for cracking the Lungnila murder case, the student body lauded the role of UNLF in unraveling the entire episode and establishing the involvement of N Rome and his accomplices in the murder case.

It added that the declaration of UNLF to arrest all the culprits is praiseworthy.

Athili also urged all the civil societies and right thinking persons to extend fullest cooperation in booking the culprits and dispensation of justice, lest peace and security would be a cry for the moon.
