CBI to prepare charge-sheet in Elizabeth case

Imphal, August 10: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to soon submit chargesheet to the relevant Court in connection with the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Lungnila Elizabeth, daughter of the then Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa.

According to a reliable source, the apex investigating body has almost completed its exercise as the investigation exercise had been intensified in the past couple of months and is most likely to submit the chargesheet this month.

Once chargesheeted the accused persons would be tried by a Court, the source added.

Meanwhile, director General of Central Forensic Science Laboratory (New Delhi) Dr Bibha Rani has completed lie detection test on the three accused in the said case and is likely to leave for the national capital tomorrow.

other than prime accused James alias Letsei Kuki and Deben Singh of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak the third accused is said to be charged for telephonic contact with Lungnila's family demanding the ransom amount.

A fourth individual is also accused in the case for his involvement in abducting Lungnila from her school on November 3, 2003.However, the said person did not turn up for the lie detection test on medical ground.

The fourth accused, whose identity was not disclosed by the source, was apprehended by the police but released on bail.

With the CBI filing an application for cancellation of the bail, the relevant court has fixed August 16 for further hearing on the matter.
