Poll tempo gaining momentum in the hill areas

Imphal, April 03: Election tempo is fast gearing up in the hill areas of Manipur following the completion of scrutiny process for the Outer Parliamentary constituency as transporting of pigs in plenty, slaughtering them to woo the voters have begun.

Such merry making mood resembles the typical way of tribal people marking the arrival of election times.

The hill people of Manipur are going to witness the most interesting and volatile Lok Sabha polls ever in the history of the Outer seat which were otherwise normally a somber affairs as compared to the Assembly elections.

Talking to Newmai News Network, some of the tribal leaders expressed that the preparation for Lok Sabha polls this time is quite tense as people of the hills are busy promoting their respective candidates.

As of now it is quite difficult to predict as to who may have more cutting edges with regard to the Outer seat but one thing that is sure is that money power is bound to play the game rather than the political parties and their policies.

Maruti van and Tata Sumo parkings are now looking deserted as they have been engaged by the candidates as election serves as a boom time for the butchers.

Poll boycott threat: Taking serious note of the prevailing law and order situation in the State, Humanist Party (Manipur State Council) has warned of boycotting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if the State Government fails to improve the law and order conditions before the polls.

Poll meeting: In connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, Janata Dal (U) Manipur State Unit will be organizing a meeting for its members at the residence of JD(U) candidate Rosangzuala at Kombirei Road Imphal on Apri 14.All the members are requested to attend the meeting without fail.

Meanwhile another release of the JD (U) has also informed that the flag hoisting to kick off election campaign will be held at the same venue on April 5.Elected: Members of the Government Press Employees Union in a meeting held today has elected Ex Minister Dr Kh Loken as the president of the union.
