Imphal, July 30: Chief Minister O Ibobi today informed the House that the man who was found hung to death at a farm house at Sekmaijin in Thoubal district on July 27 was actually killed by his own son and the body was later hung to make it look like a case of suicide.

Replying to a call attention motion raised by Mayang Imphal AC MLA M Nilachandra, the Chief Minister who also holds the Home portfolio said that the deceased, Thoudam Bidhu, was killed by his own son, Rajen who was assisted by one Wahengbam Ibohal the brother-in-law of Rajen.

The Chief Minister informed the House that on the morning of July 27, the deceased Modhu had a drinking session with six other friends and later in the evening he was found dead at his farm house.

The six friends were picked up by the police for questioning said the Chief Minister adding that they were later let off after Rajen and Ibohal confessed to killing Modhu.

The Chief Minister assured that appropriate action would be initiated against the two as per the law of the land.

M Nilachandra who raised the motion said that Modhu was seen lying on the ground near his farm house on the evening of July 27 by some neighbours.

However no alarm was sounded as all were under the impression that he was drunk.

At about 7 pm, Rajen spread the news that his father had hung himself to death, said the MLA and added that he dissuaded the neighbours from reporting the matter to the police.

Modhu was found hung from a pole only about four feet tall, said the MLA.

However the next day some persons reported the matter to the police and that was how the police got wind of the story, he said.

The MLA said that the two accused have been released adding that the police have not proceeding with the case properly.

Chief Minister O Ibobi however differed with the views of the MLA and said that the police is working over time to ensure that justice is delivered and the guilty are brought to book.
