Imphal, April 29: Bharatiya Janata Party nominee for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency D Loli Adanee has charged that NSCN (IM) cadres in huge numbers have been rushed to Tamenglong district to create violence in the district where rescheduled polls will be held in 64 polling stations tomorrow.

Talking to media-persons this afternoon at the residence of B JP National Secretary and MLA M Bhorot, the BJP candidate alleged that following completion of polls at Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel districts the NSCN (IM) cadres have been sent as reinforcement in Tamenglong district.

In view of tomorrow's adjourned poll at the 64 polling stations, the underground cadres have been scattered in and around all these polling centres, Adanee maintained.

He further asserted that the outfit has threatened the Tamenglong district electorates to cast their votes for independent candidate in the Outer seat Mani Charenamei.

During the first phase on April 20, armed NSCN (IM) cadres not only detained poll agents of other political parties/candidates but went on a mass booth capturing spree, he charged.

The BJP candidate also claimed that two persons each from Maram Bazar and Lairou Ching and another from Maram Khullen were severely beaten up by cadres of the outfit on April 25 and are currently undergoing treatment at Senapati district hospital.

He also distributed photographs and documents to the newspersons showing the victims undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The five persons were abducted on their way to the polling booths for the April 24 repoll where they were supposed to be inner agents, Adanee explained.

Documents issued by the NSCN (IM) to support the independent candidate Mani Charenamei and instructing the electorates to cast their votes for Charenamei were also produced and distributed to the media-persons.

The NSCN (IM) leaflets issued by its central administrative officer of Zeliangrong region (GPRN) stated that ensuring victory for Charenamei will bring prosperity to the Zeliangrong people while at the same time warning 'capital punishment' to those going against the diktats of the outfit.

In a separate statement issued by Zeilad Block convenor of Zeliangrong Region (GPRN) RL Kahmei all the leaders of Longmai Bazar area, social workers and NGO leaders were asked to attend an election related meeting held on April 16 failing which 'serious action' will be taken.

Continuing his address, Adanee said even though the BJP desires peaceful, free and fair elections threat looms large with Charena-mei in connivance with cadres of the NSCN (IM) most likely to indulge in disruptive activities during tomorrow's repoll at Tamenglong district for which a complaint has been lodged to the election Commission of India to disqualify Charenamei for his malpractices.

Chipping in M Bhorot said Charenamei cannot in any way deny that he is an NSCN (IM) sponsored candidate and demanded disqualification of the candidate.

While welcoming the NSCN (IM)'s participation in election process, Bhorot however, deplored the coercive tactics applied by cadres of the outfit that has undermined democratic principles of free and fair poll.

Taking part in the address, NCP candidate and former MP Holkhomang Haokip though disqualification of Charenamei has not yet been demanded threat and intimidation to voters during the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency election is strongly condemnable and unjustified.
