Child back home after sounding alarm

Imphal, July 28: Amidst rallies and dharnas against the trend of kidnapping children going on in Manipur valley, a 14-year old lad from Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak in Imphal East has been reported missing on Monday morning in an apparent case of child lifting by militant outfits.

Police however said late in the evening that the family concerned has informed them that the child has returned home.

Thamdom Jayentakumar (14) s/o Th.Ibotombi of Wangkhei, a class VIII student of Madhumangol Memorial Higher Secondary School, Imphal disappeared from his home since 8.10 of Monday morning, according to his anxious mother who spoke to media persons on Monday.

The mother of Jayentakumar said that her son left their house to meet a friend before going to school on Monday morning.

When the school time neared, the apprehensive mother began to look out for her son at all the places he usually visits, but her search was futile till then.

Meanwhile, joining the chorus of protest against child kidnapping in the state, staffs and students of over fourteen schools in and around Khangabok in Thoubal district staged a protest demonstration on Monday along the National Highway 39 passing through Khangabok under the aegis of Joint Social Upliftment Committee (JSUC), Khangabok, a release of the JSUC, Khangabok said on Monday.

Protestors vociferously raised their protest against child kidnapping in the State and appealed the concerned organisations to immediately release the children who were in their custody.

The protestors have also urged the organisations concerned to respect the voice raised against child kidnapping.

At the same time, dharnas have been staged at different places of Imphal since the last few days against the kidnapping of children for child soldiers by militant outfits.
