Imphal, May 28: Taking strong exception against the failure of the NSCN (IM) to clearly spell out its stand against the accused in the kidnapping and murder of Hriini Hubert and Muheni Martin, irate public of Senapati convened a public meeting today at the district headquarters.

A delegation of local people of Senapati also left for Camp Hebron to pursue the matter with the outfit, as the three days time initially sought to announce its stand have lapsed said Solomon Vieno chairman of the now dissolved Fact Finding Committee.

According to the assurances given by the NSCN (IM) they were supposed to spell out what course of action would be taken up against the accused by May 22, Veino said.

"Till today they have not said anything on the matter.

The Fact Finding Committee was dissolved on the basis of the assurances given by the outfit and we have taken serious note of the failure to spell out their stand," said Vieno and cautioned that there may be a public outburst against the silence maintained by the NSCN (IM).

Senapati has been on the boil since the skeletal remains of the two boys were found on March 27 this year on a hillock near the district headquarters.

The two boys went missing on December 14 last year.

The families of the two boys had also reportedly paid a sum of Rs 5 lakhs to the kidnappers to secure the release of their children but all went in vain.

The houses of two accused, Manikho and Brown Tangkhul were burnt by an irate mob at Senapati after the skeletal remains of the two boys were found.

A number of suspects are in the custody of the NSCN (IM) at Camp Hebron, though one of them has escaped.
