Imphal, December 27: Altogether 40 valley Assembly constituencies out of the 60 State Assembly constituencies will go to the polls in the first phase of the 8th Manipur Assembly elections which have been slated for February 14 and February 21 next year.

Elections for the 20 other remaining constituencies in the hill districts will be held during the second phase polling which falls on February 21.An official source from the State election department has said that electoral roll revision for polls has almost been completed.

The final list of the electoral rolls will be published on January 7.The source said that the number of polling stations used in the last general elections will remain unchanged.

Identification of normal, sensitive and hyper sensitive polling stations will be done very soon after holding a joint meeting of SPs of all the districts.
