Rs 135 lakhs for Assembly repair

Imphal, January 25: The state Governor-in-Council, in a meeting held today has agreed that all efforts should be made to complete renovation work on the Manipur Assembly secretariat, chief minister�s secretariat and the Speaker�s bungalow damaged in the June 18 uprising, at the earliest, and has released a sum of Rs 135 lakhs for the purpose.

The sum released will also cover renovation work on the New Delhi Manipur Bhavan located at Sadar Patel Marg.

Today�s meeting also agreed to submit a proposal for taking up a food administration project in the state at an estimated cost of Rs 202 lakhs to the Central government.

The meeting approved release of grant-in-aid to Manipur University amounting to Rs 33.03 lakhs to enable payment of salaries for September, October and November 2001.the Council decided to hand over infrastructure construction work for Manipur University, the Government College of Technology, and the DM Colleges to NBCC Ltd.

NBCC Ltd is to be asked to prepare a detailed project report in this regard in consultation with the state PWD and the concerned administrative department.

A further sum of Rs 36.15 lakhs is to be released to complete construction work on the Nambol and Kamjong power substations.

The Governor-in-Council has also approved release of a total of Rs 1.5 crores to the state police for meeting the forthcoming election requirements.
