Imphal, July 22: Urging the people to be aware of the designs of the enemy, the United People's Front has today called upon the people to defeat the divisive policies perpetrated by the Government of India and the NSCN(IM).

In a statement, UPF said that the time calls for the people to really know who the enemy is and to defeat their divide and rule policy.

Stating that the NSCN (IM) has fallen into the well laid traps of the Indian Government, the statement said that the outfit is today trying to drive a wedge amongst the different communities by drumming up a 50 year history to nullify the 2000 year old history of a place like Manipur.

All these years, the people of the region and Manipur have been living together peacefully and in a spirit of amity and trust.

However today, there are attempts being made to severe all these ties and divide Manipur and the NE region, said UPF and asked the people to be wary of the designs of the enemy.

The June 18 uprising in 2001 against the Bangkok declaration of June 14 the same year was a spontaneous uprising of the people and was not targeted towards any community but to defeat the divide and rule policy of the Indian Govt, asserted the statement.

Even today, there is an informal cease fire on the soil of Manipur and this has given the perfect opportunity to the NSCN (IM) cadres to spread the message of hate and distrust among the hill people, claimed UPF.

Indian is watching the suffering of the people due to the economic blockade with glee and joy, said UPF and said that ANSAM should sit back and think.
