Imphal, July 21: The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur has claimed responsibility for desecrating the Irang bridge at Tamenglong in the wee hours of July 20.Speaking to The Sangai Express over the phone, spokesman of the student body Ngachonmi Chamroy to day said that the bridge was dismantled as a reply to the indifferent attitude of the SPF Government to the issue at hand.

"The Ibobi led Government can never run away from the truth," said Chamroy and accused the Chief Minister of using force instead of trying to resolve the matter.

"Instead to trying to resolve the matter, the Government has used force on the National Highways to set aside our legitimate demands," said Chamroy and added, "At the end of the day, truth will prevail".

Acknowledging the woes and suffering of the common people including the Naga people, Chamroy said that ANSAM too realises the suffering and inconveniences the people have been exposed to.

It is quite obvious that Chief Minister O Ibobi took the decision to declare June 18 a State holiday and State integrity day without consulting his Cabinet, said Chamroy and added that this being the case, he should revoke his personal decision.

On the Government's effort to hold talks with the student body by sending representatives of NGOs, tribal elders and Church leaders, he said that such overtures are meaningless.
