Imphal, January 15: National secretary (Northeast in-charge) of BJP V Satish has categorically stated that the main agenda of his party in the ensuing 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly election is to defeat the Congress and install a non-Congress Government.

Addressing a press conference at the party office to co-incide with the function to the welcome Congressman Heikrujam Nabashyam into the BJP fold, Satish charged the Congress led SPF Government with having done nothing to address the aspirations of the people in all spheres during its five-year term and added that the need of the hour is for all all like minded political parties to join hands and instal a non-Congress Govt after the polls.

"The Congress has lost its moral right to rule", he said, adding that the charge sheets framed against the Ibobi Singh Government on its misdeeds and misgovernance would be released in the first week of February.

Castigating the Government for its failure to bring an amicable solution to the the ongoing economic blockade being called by ATSUM that has taken its toll, the BJP leader called upon the agitating student body to reconsider its stance and switch over to other form of protest other than economic blockade.

He also urged both the Prime Minister and Home Minister to immediately intervene into the matter to ensure that the untold suffering being faced by the people is erased.

On the issuance of the party's second phase list of candidates, he said the party's central election committee will announce it on January 19. BJP on January 13 announced its first phase list naming eight candidates including a woman.

Stating that many voters have complained against non-issuance of voter ID cards even though their snaps have been taken, Satish expressed apprehension that the Congress party might take advantage from it to commit malpractices in the ensuing polls.

Hence he urged both the Chief Electoral Officer and Election Commission to look into it.

While welcoming the entry of Heikrujam into BJP after leaving Congress, he said this showed that the Congress has not only lost its spirit but has also lost its way.

With his entry, BJP has gain its strength, he said adding " this is just the beginning as some more are also coming to BJP".

He said the party's national president Rajnath Singh and other party leaders Sushma Swaraj and ex-minister Ravi Shanker Prasad would arrive here for joining the poll campaign in the first week of February .

BJP national secretary and MLA Meinam Bhorot Singh, said the exit of former CM RK Dorendra Singh from BJP and his subsequent entry to Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) " has not disheartened us and rather it makes us more happy to the fact that MPP too is also fighting to defeat the Congress".

Though BJP is a regional party it has its regional outlook like MPP, he said.

The joining of ex BJP president and former Union Minister Thounoujam Chaoba Singh into MPP too makes BPJ happier, he said.
