Imphal, November 13: Barely 24 hours after the body of Luningla Elizabeth was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition at Sadokpam Leikai, the State police force have achieved a minor break through and have arrested one more suspect.

The suspect was handed over to the police by local meira paibis.

The police had yesterday arrested three suspects of a family in connection with the killing of the school girl though one has been released.

All the suspects are under hectic interrogation.

Speaking to The Sangai Express after a marathon Cabinet meeting today, a well placed source said that the police have managed to zero in on the identities of all those involved in the kidnapping and killing of Lungnila Elizabeth.

The source however refused to divulge the names of the three suspects rounded up as it could hamper smooth progress of the investigation.

All members of one particular family suspected to have kept Elizabeth at their residence were rounded up by the police today and they were produced before the Cabinet this evening by the DGP in-charge Additional DGP Y Joykumar and IGP A Romenkumar.

Imphal West SSP Dinokumar was also present.

Details of what was discussed between the members of this particular family and the Cabinet was however not divulged.

The source further said that the Cabinet has decided to meet everyday from 4 pm until the killers of Elizabeth are booked.

All the works taken up and the progress of the investigation will be made public through the newspapers everyday, said the source.

To solve the case within 48 hours, the DGP has been instructed to constitute a Special Police Investigative team to be headed by an officer of the rank of an Additional SP tonight itself as the Government feels that entrusting the case to an Investigative Officer who is generally of the rank of an SI, Inspector or a DSP may not be able to yield the desired results.

The members of the investigative team have however not been announced.

Today's Cabinet meeting also expressed grave concern over the ineffectiveness of the police intelligence network, said the source and discussed measures on how to make the police force more effective in future.

The Cabinet has also decided to appeal to the public to extend their co-operation to the police.

The source informed that the Cabinet also discussed on the possibility of doing something concrete in the memory of Elizabeth.

A final decision in this connection may be adopted tomorrow.
