Imphal, March 10: The fifth session of the 8th Manipur State Assembly will begin with an address by Governor Ved Marwah tomorrow at 11 am.

Though the Assembly session will last one whole week, there will be only five sittings, during which the Treasury bench would table the Manipur Public Demand Recovery Bill, 2003 and try to pass Manipur Appropriation Bill No I and II.

Vote on Account for the month of April to July this year will also be put up for discussion and final approval during the short session.

Earlier the Business Advisory Committee had decided to hold only four sittings.

The days which would have Assembly sessions are March 11, 12, 13, 14 and 17.The Opposition is likely to mount pressure on the Government for passing Lok Ayukta arid Uppa Ayukta Bills, besides drawing the attention of the ruling bench on many important issues including the present fiasco over Meetei Mayek.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Secretariat has reportedly taken up all necessary action including security arrangement for smooth conduct of the session.

Prohibitory order under Cr PC 144 has also been promulgated not only in and around the Assembly Secretariat but also in the whole of Imphal West District as a precautionary measure.
