Condemnation against loot/rape continue unabated

Imphal, September 08: Widespread condemnations by various organizations at the September 5 midnight loot and rape of bus passengers at Piphema near Kohima continues to flood in unabated.

Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee staged a protest dharna at Congress Bhavan gate today against atrocities to women bus passengers at Piphema by armed miscreants and frequent looting on highways.

Sit in protest was also staged at Kwakeithel bazar where members of various women organizations of Leimakhujam, Thokchom, Akham, Thiyam, Thounaojam, Dewan, Soibam Nganappi Thong Leikais of Kwakeithel participated.

Manipur Forward Youth Front under the banner of a newly constituted 'Peoples Movement Committee Against Violation of National Highway' also comprising of Manipur Nupi Keithel Marup burnt effigies of LK Advani, Nagaland Chief Minister and the looters at Yairipok and Lamlong Bazar today.

Minority Department of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee strongly condemned the loot and rape of bus passengers on September 5 morning by armed miscreants at Piphema near Kohima.

They also drew the attention of Nagaland Government on the gravity of the crime which is likely to put a blot on the interstate relationships between the two.

United Hills Village Authority Council, Manipur denouncing the beastly act, asked all the people to be united in rooting out such menace from the region.

Konthoujam Kendra People's Task Force condemning the incident asked the people to divulge into frequent harassment meted out to innocents on both highways and chalk out measures to check recurrence of such unwanted activities.

Tangkhul People's Organization, Imphal, in a press release strongly condemned the ghastly and barbaric act of 'molestation' of some women and looting of passengers on the ill-fated Imphal bound bus.

The organization asking all to denounce such act also demanded swift action by authority concerned to book and punish the culprits involved.

Manipur State Council of All India Students' Federation demanded that concerned authority take up the matter with related officials instead of sitting in the comfort of their office rooms and publish statements through media.

Zeliangrong United Clubs' Association Manipur Valley while condemning the barbaric act of Piphema asked all Zeliangrong people inhabiting National Highway 53 to be vigilant and make the route safe for travelers and transporters.
