Imphal, August 08: Even as four officials have been placed under suspension for allotting shopping plots on the first floor on New Market on the sly, the House Committee which was constituted to probe into the matter will also study other cases of land allotment effected by the IMC.

The House Committee was constituted after MLA I Hemochandra raised a call attention motion in the Assembly yesterday highlighting the plot allotment.

As per an announcement delivered by Speaker TN Haokip, the Committee will probe all cases of land allotment with retrospective effect from Jan 2000.Stating that the inquiry will be launched in a big way, the Speaker said that the Committee will probe the land allotment orders of the IMC with regard to the shopping plots in front of DM College, Nupi Keithel, Konung Mamang and Surana Motors.

If any irregularities are detected in the plot allotments then the buildings standing on the plots would be pulled down and other relevant action would be taken up, the Speaker said.

Stating that all involved in any scam would not be let off the hook, the Speaker said that the present Chairperson and former Chairpersons of IMC, past and present Councillors, and past and present Govt officials would be pulled up if they are found involved in any murky dealings.

The Committee is to report its findings within one month's time.
