Imphal, April 07: Close on the heels of the UNLF imposing a complete ban on all election related activities as well as the ban imposed on the BJP and Congress by two outfits, the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has also imposed a ban on the NCP's Outer seat candidate Holkhomang Haokip with immediate effect.

Interacting with media-persons somewhere at Chandel district yesterday, UKLF's official commandant Lieutenant Joshua stated that the decision was taken as Holkhomang had failed to take up the reformation, resettlement and rehabilitation works of the Kukis whose properties were destroyed during the Naga-Kuki clashes in the early nineties.

He also warned that severe punishment including capital punishment would be given to anyone found campaigning or canvassing for Holkhomang from today.

It may be noted here that Holkhomang during the last Lok Sabha election campaign had promised the Kukis that he would take up welfare programme of the displaced Kukis if elected from the Outer seat.

Accusing Holkhomang Haokip of playing "Divide and Rule" policy among the Kukis, Joshua charged Holkhomang of working only for the interest of his supporters and followers after being elected as the Outer's MP in the last Lok Sabha polls thereby completely ignoring the masses.

He further stated that Holkhomang was responsible for the formation of a new Kuki organization which has close links with the security forces and added that he was trying to wipe out all UG groups operating in the region with the help of this organization.

He also appealed to the public to refrain from extending any form of support or cooperation to the cadres of the organization formed by Holkhomang.

The ex-MP will not be allowed to stand for any form of election until and unless he dissolves his organization and at the same time severe all links with the Research Analysis Wing (RAW), said Joshua.

UKLF's public Relation Secretary Solomon who also interacted with the media-persons asserted that Holkhomang's decision to stand for the election inspite of an earlier ban imposed by the party is nothing but disrespecting the Kuki community in general and UKLF in particular.
