Imphal, April 06: Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Gegong Apang has stated that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre within its short five years of rule has brought a sea change in the development of the Nation.

He was addressing a function organised by State Unit BJP in connection with the 24th foundation day of the party at the GM Hall here this afternoon.

Apang arrived here today to take part in the foundation day function as to well as to formally kick off the election campaign of the party in the State for the upcoming Lok Sabha election for which the State would go to polls on April 20 and 26.Speaking at the occasion, Apang asserted that BJP is not a communal party as some of its rival political parties are trying to project.

BJP firmly believes in democracy and secularism and for taking the country forward continuance of a BJP-led Government at the Centre is a must, he said, while appealing to the people to give a clear mandate to the party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election too.

Justifying his change of political allegiance, Apang who had been in Congress for a long time, contended that the numerous problems afflicting the North East are due to the misrule of the Congress party.Since independence, Congress has been in power in most of the North Eastern States, but the party has done nothing much for the development of the region.

Instead it has left behind a legacy of extremism, secessionism, anti-nationalism and anti-socialism.

Noting that none of the political party got a majority in the 13th Lok Sabha, Apang appreciated the move taken for conducting a fresh Lok Sabha election and get clear mandate of the people.

He also appealed to the people for giving their votes in favour of BJP's candidates Th Chaoba and D Loli Adanee for ushering in an era of peace and development in Manipur.

BJP National secretary and former State party unit president Meinam Bhorot, who also spoke at the function rued that the tempo of election campaigning for his party been slower due to restriction imposed on it by an underground outfit.

In his presidential address, State Unit BJP president and party candidate for the Inner seat Th Chaoba reiterated that the development activities in the State has come to a stand still position due to mismanagement and rampant corruption by ruling Congress led SPF Government.
