Imphal, April 04: JAC Malom Apunba Meira Paibi Lup today organised a Wakat Meepham at Malom Bazar to protest the alleged torture and sexual assault of Maibam Naobi Chanu by Thoubal District Commandos in their custody.

The protest demonstration participated by around 250 Meira Paibis was held from 10 am to 3 pm.

The protestors used placards with slogans demanding punishment of the guilty police commandos and the denouncing the excesses of the security forces on the innocent people.

On the other hand, the JAC has reportedly seized 200 litre of illicit liquor from two persons namely Sangbi (13) and Sanjit (25) evening of March 27 last at Hiyangthang Maning Leikai.

The liquor was being transported in a bicycle when the vigilant JAC members intercepted it.

The JAC has stated that it should not be held responsible for the lost of the cycle if the persons concerned do not come to the office of the JAC within April 6.
