Imphal, February 04: The handing over of the prime accused in the murder of Lungnila Elizabeth, James Kuki, to the Manipur Govt is a matter of serious concern for the NSCN (IM) as it is not very sure whether the State Govt will carry out the investigations in a transparent manner, said NSCN (IM) Information and Publicity Kilonser Chawang.

Talking to The Sangai Express Kilonser Chawang who is based in Dimapur stated that the organization has doubts that the investigation would be carried out effectively once the case is handed over to the State Govt.Answering to a query, Chawang said that James Kuki's case is entering a very confusing stage and added that James is a resident of Imphal and had been arrested by State police on many occasions earlier.

Informing that James Kuki has revealed many more names connected with the killing during interrogation, Chawang said that details about the ongoing investigation have not been revealed to the public as the organization at the moment does not have enough concrete evidences.

As per the details provided by James Kuki during the investigation, the organization has been able to arrest 11/12 persons suspected to be involved in the murder, informed Chawang adding that TA Shimray who had been declared as a suspect by the police in the murder case may also be among the arrested persons by the organization.

Commenting on the State Govt's declaration that the Lungnila murder case would be handed over to the CBI, Chawang said that the case might have been handed over to the CBI only in the local news paper to pacify the public with the actual case lying still with the State Govt. However when The Sangai Express contacted the State Home Dept Special Secretary on the matter, the officer said that the case has been handed over the CBI but no statement or report have been submitted by the CBI to the State Govt on the matter.

No matter how long the investigation takes, NSCN (IM) will do its best to solve the case and book the culprits for their brutal crime, added Chawang.

Athonliu wife of James Kuki who was also arrested along with James Kuki by NSCN (IM) cadres from Burma Camp in Dimapur last month gave birth to a son a few days back, informed Chawang.
