Imphal, October 03: DEMOCRATIC STUDENTS' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) have set terms for the government of Manipur to check and control the migrants and stop their influx in Manipur, if not the two students bodies are determined to start a movement in order to get out of the clutch of the migrants.

This was stated in a press release jointly issued today by Secretary General of DESAM Y Ratan Kumar and Secretary General of AMSU head quarter T Prcmananda.

The two student bodies stated that the present state government should take necessary steps "to identify and detect the migrants and deport them in legally permissible manner in order to control the ever increasing population of the migrants in Manipur".

The Manipur Legislative Assembly should formulate a separate legislation to prevent the migrants from making further influx into the state.

The press release suggested that the ongoing state assembly session should take firm decisions to ban selling of land to the outsiders/migrants, not to employ them in the state goverment services, not to avail them of reservation and also not to provide them jobs that may pave way for them to settle permanently in the state.

It would not be right for the 60 MLAs to remain silent even when the population of the migrants increased much more than that of the total population of the indigenous tribal communities.

If the assembly and government do not take necessary actions in this regard, the two students bodies would launch a movement to save Manipur from the clutch of the migrants.
