Imphal, June 01: Though the NSCN (I-M) has not publicly announced the progress of its probe into the kidnapping for ransom and subsequent brutal murder of the two Senapati kids, the outfit has disclosed the status of the probe conducted so far to the bereaved family members.

The rebel group had assured the Senapati public that it would spell out its stance on the accused who are in its custody on May 22.But peeved with the silence of the outfit, a team of public leaders including the fathers of the two murdered kids Hrinii Hubert and Muheni Martin, had gone to Camp Hebron of the NSCN (I-M) at Dimapur on May 28 to pursue the matter.

The team returned to Senapati district yesterday, informed Solomon Veino, chairman of the just dissolved Fact Finding Committee while disclosing that at Camp Hebron, the outfit revealed the upto date progress of its investigation including the statements given by the accused persons to the bereaved parents.

The outfit told the parents that the investigation is proceeding smoothly but certain technical flaws have hampered it at the final stage as four more accused persons including Adai who escaped from the custody are yet to be rounded up, Veino said.

As many as eight accused including Manikho and Brown Tangkhul are facing trial at the outfit's court, he added.

Since the outfit has revealed its probe status to the parents, the Senapati public would ask them ( the bereaved parents) whether they are satisfy with such revelation or not, Veino said.

'If they say yes then we will discontinue launching agitation demanding to punish the culprits and wait for the penalty to be given by the outfit.

If not, we would take our decision on what steps to be taken up after convening a meeting', Veino said.

Senapati has been on the boil since the mortal remains of the two Don Bosco School students were recovered from a gorge of the district headquarters on March 27 this year after 104 days of having kidnapped for ransom .

The two tiny tots have been abducted on December 14, 2006 and their parents reportedly gave Rs 5 lakhs to the abductors to secure the safe release of the kids.
