Imphal, February 01: AICC chief Sonia Gandhi is set to arrive on February 5 at Imphal to join the poll campaign for her party, confirmed MPCC today.

Highlighting the itineraries of Sonia's visit, a reliable source in the MPCC informed that the AICC chief will arrive at Imphal airport at 11.30 am of February 5 from where she would move directly to Wangjing to address an election meeting there.

After the meeting, Sonia Gandhi will have lunch at Raj Bhawan before addressing another meeting, most probably at Hatta Kangjeibung.

She will leave Imphal at 3.30 pm of the same day.

To provide foolproof security to the high profile visit of the Congress leader, a team of SPG arrived at Imphal today, informed a source.

Meanwhile, the MPCC has urged a number of Congress leaders to join the party's poll campaign.

The Committee has so far invited Union External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Union Ministers Priya Ranjan Das Munshi, Imran Kidwai, Margaret Alva and Ambika Soni.

The Congress leaders are expected to join election campaign to ensure success of INC candidates, said the source.

The MPCC has been considering to organise a meeting at Jiribam where Priya Ranjan Das Munshi and Pranab Mukherjee are expected to address.

On the other hand, BJP National Secretary Rajnath Singh is arriving at the State capital tomorrow, said a BJP Manipur Pradesh source.

Union Railways Minister and RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav is already scheduled to arrive at Imphal on February 5.
