Many continue to condemn murder

Imphal, March 29: Apart from continued condemnations from student and civil society organisations over the killing of the two Don Bosco School, Senapati students, a joint peace rally was organised at Chandel district headquarters today.

The rally cum public meeting participated by thousands of school students, teachers and leaders of seven Naga student organisations was held under the joint aegis of seven Naga tribe student bodies and Chandel District Private Schools' Association.

Addressing the meeting various speakers condemned the brutal murder and demanded immediate arrest of the killers, said a statement released by students' union of Anal, Monsang, Moyon, Lamkang, Chothe, Maring and Tarou Naga tribes.

The Kuki Students' Organisation has also strongly condemned the brutal murder of Don Bosco School, Senapati students Hrinii Hubert and Muheni Martin who were kidnapped for ransom in December last year only to culminate with the recovery of their skeletal remains two days back at a Senapati district hillock.

The ghastly killings, similar to what had happened to Lungnila Elizabeth deserve mass public outcry so as to stamp out this devilish deed once and for all, said a KSO, general headquarters release while insisting that the police make all out efforts to nab the culprits and punish them stringently.

Endorsing demand for ex-gratia payment to family members of the two victim children, the student body also took grim note of the fact that policing in the State is ineffective in handling kidnapping cases.

KSO also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved families.

Our Ukhrul correspondent Addie Chiphang informed that Tangkhul bodies like the TNL, TSL, TMNL, TKS and HKL have imposed a seven hour Ukhrul district bandh from 7 am tomorrow to denounce murder of the two kids.

The agitation will , however, will not cover the ongoing examinations.

Speaking to mediapersons at the TNL office today, representatives of the organisations also condemned, in the strongest term the murder of the innocent boys even after the ransom amount was paid.

On behalf of the entire Tangkhul community, the bodies also invoked blessing of the almighty for peaceful rest of the departed souls, conveyed of sharing sorrow of the bereaved families and prevailed upon the Government to extend ex-gratia to families of the victim kids, our correspondent quoted the bodies' representatives as saying.

The Maring Students' Union, Chandel has also strongly condemned the killing of the two boys.

In a statement, the student body urged the Government to arrest the culprits at the earliest.

Advance Women Society (awang sekmai), Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup, student community of Singjamei Chingamakha, Kanglei Chanura Chaokhat Lamching Lup (Hiyanglam), All India Students' Federation (Manipur State Council), Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association , Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Youth Club, Women's Association for Civil Action (Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai) and United Committee Manipur condemning the killing also demanded stern action against the criminals involved in the ghastly act.

The bodies also castigated the Government machinery for failure to save the precious lives of Muheni martin and Hrinii Hubert.

They also charged that the Government should owe responsibility for the premature death of the two. Meanwhile, members of All India Trade Union Congress and All manipur Shops and Establishment Employees' Association staged a protest demonstration to condemn the twin killings.
